To carry forward the tradition of excellence in teaching and promote the intergenerational inheritance of teaching experience, CUFE Business School held a mentorship-oriented teaching workshop titled “Passing on the Torch to Cultivate Talent” on the morning of December 12, 2025, in Conference Room 615. The event brought together senior and junior faculty members to “teach the same lesson together” as part of a mentorship initiative. Liu Shubo, Associate Professor and Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office, and Gu Leilei, Professor and Vice Dean of CUFE Business School, attended the event. The session was hosted by Li Jiapeng, Assistant Professor in the Department of Strategies. Senior faculty representatives Zhou Weizhong, Pang Shoulin, Miao Yuexin, Yu Guangtao, Zhu Fei, Zhou Liguo, Jia Xiaojing, and Wang Yueying participated alongside junior faculty representatives Liu Zixu, Ji Xiaode, and Chen Jingchuan.

At the beginning of the event, host and organizer Assistant Professor Li Jiapeng introduced the background, structure, and core objectives of the workshop. He noted that the “Teaching Together” initiative serves as an important exchange platform established by the Beijing Higher Education Young Faculty Innovation Teaching and Research Studio, aiming to integrate the teaching wisdom of senior faculty with the innovative energy of junior faculty through a mentorship mechanism, thereby continuously enhancing the overall quality of teaching within the school.

Liu Shubo, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office, spoke from the perspective of the university’s overall teaching development and highly commended the Business School’s efforts in faculty development. He encouraged all participants to take this event as an opportunity to deepen their commitment to teaching, learn from one another, and jointly promote the continuous advancement of the university’s teaching quality. In her remarks, Vice Dean Gu Leilei emphasized that strong teaching traditions are a valuable asset of the school, while young faculty represent the new driving force in the teaching community. She expressed the hope that the event would build a bridge for intergenerational dialogue, allowing teaching experience to thrive through inheritance and innovation, and enabling teaching vitality to flourish through interaction and exchange.

During the core teaching demonstration session, Assistant Professors Liu Zixu (Department of Strategies), Assistant Professors Ji Xiaode (Department of Organization and Human Resources Management), and Assistant Professors Chen Jingchuan (Department of Supply Chain and Operations Management) delivered a 15-20 minute teaching segment in turn. Focusing on classic concepts and key challenges within their courses, the three instructors combined solid disciplinary knowledge with creative instructional design. By integrating theoretical frameworks with real-world cases and guiding students to think through progressive explanations, they demonstrated both strong teaching enthusiasm and innovative pedagogical approaches, earning broad recognition from the attending faculty members.

Following the teaching demonstrations, the event moved into the discussion and feedback session. Senior faculty representatives provided detailed evaluations of the teaching performances, offering suggestions on optimizing teaching methods, strengthening teaching attitudes, and enhancing instructional preparation.

Professor Zhou Weizhong from the Department of Strategies offered advice to young faculty with the Chinese saying “ten minutes on stage requires ten years of practice offstage,” encouraging them to maintain a serious and dedicated teaching attitude and pursue excellence in everyday instruction. Professor Miao Yuexin from the Department of Marketing emphasized that young teachers should maintain their passion for teaching, develop a deep understanding of students’ characteristics, and build meaningful teacher–student communication through sincerity and empathy. Professor Zhu Fei, Dean of the School of Culture and Communication, shared insights from decades of teaching experience, discussing how to integrate theoretical instruction with frontier developments in the discipline, and encouraging young faculty to strengthen foundational knowledge while keeping pace with emerging trends to enhance the relevance and practicality of classroom teaching. Professor Jia Xiaojing from the Department of Supply Chain and Operations Management encouraged young teachers to remain committed to their original aspirations in education, prepare every class with care, and dedicate themselves to teaching every student well.

The on-site discussions were lively and engaging. Junior faculty members actively shared challenges and reflections from their teaching practice, while senior faculty offered thoughtful guidance and generously shared their experiences. Through in-depth dialogue on topics such as teaching philosophy, classroom organization, and teacher–student interaction, participants developed a number of shared insights on effective teaching practices.

The successful organization of this “Teaching Together” mentorship workshop not only created a valuable platform for professional exchange among faculty members but also strengthened emotional connections and professional identity across different generations of teachers. It also helped identify and reflect on common challenges in teaching practice. Moving forward, CUFE Business School will build on this experience to further refine institutional mechanisms and explore the establishment of a long-term mentorship model, continuously promoting faculty development and improving teaching quality, thereby laying a solid educational foundation for cultivating high-quality professionals in the field of finance and economics.
