As the year draws to a close and a new chapter begins, the stars bear witness while a bright spring dawn awaits. In December 2025, the “Shining Like the Stars, Embracing the Spring Dawn” 2026 New Year Gala of CUFE Business School was grandly held at the Academic Hall 206 on the Xueyuan South Road Campus. Faculty members, students, and alumni of the Business School gathered together to celebrate the coming year. Through music and dance, they reflected on the past year’s efforts and looked forward to a promising future.
Wang Jinying, the inaugural recipients of the “Longma Medal” of CUFE and founder Marketing of CUFE Business School; Sun Guohui, former Vice President of CUFE and Professor of the Department of Marketing; Xu Xianmei, Director of Business School Committee; Lin Song, Dean of CUFE Business School and Director of the MBA Education Center; Yang Zhongying, Deputy Director of Business School Committee; Liu Xiaoyuan, Deputy Director of the MBA Education Center and Vice Dean of CUFE Business School; Gu Leilei, Vice Dean of CUFE Business School; Dai Yongwu, Vice Dean of CUFE Business School; Jia Xiaojing, Professor of the Department of Supply Chain and Operations Management; and Miao Yuexin, Professor of the Department of Marketing, together with alumni including Zhang Geng, President of the CUFE Business School Alumni Association and alumnus of the Class of 1997 majoring in International Business Management; Li Wei, Vice President of the CUFE Business School Alumni Association and alumnus of the Class of 1997 majoring in International Business Management; Qiu Yingfei, Secretary General of the MBA Alumni Association and alumnus of the Class of 2011 MBA; and Cheng Yi, Vice President and alumnus of the Class of 2006 MBA, as well as current students and chairpersons of MBA associations from more than 20 universities in Beijing, came together in a gathering of more than 500 people to celebrate the New Year.
The gala was hosted by Shi Ceming and Jiang Qi (MBA Class of 2025), Zhao Yunrui (PhD Class of 2025), Li Jiaqi (Academic Master’s Class of 2025), Yang Kaijia (Undergraduate Class of 2024), and Li Yiwen (Undergraduate Class of 2022).
On the stage, dazzling lights mingled with the brilliance of youthful energy; in the hall, warmth and enthusiasm flowed between all who gathered. It was more than a feast for the senses; it was a heartfelt gathering that transcended class years and connected faculty and students—a vivid portrait of CUFE Business School community, remaining true to their original aspirations and forging ahead towards their dreams.
Chapter I: Sparks of Stars
The evening began with the energetic opening dance “Killin’ It Girl,” performed by members of the Weiyang Dance Club. Their dynamic choreography instantly ignited the atmosphere and kicked off the evening with vibrant energy.

The biggest surprise of the night was undoubtedly the mystery performance “Big Names, Please Take the Stage” —CUFE Business School leaders made their surprise debut as the “Most Lightning Talk Show Hosts.” From a Hokkien folk song to nostalgic runway show, from playful interactions with a striking height difference to down-to-earth, heartfelt blessings, the leaders’ uninhibited performances broke the usual rigorous impression in the classroom and revealed their warm, approachable side as both teachers and friends.
During the speech segment, the School leaders reviewed CUFE Business School’s achievements over the past year in teaching, research, talent cultivation, and international exchange, expressing gratitude to all faculty, students, and alumni for their dedication. They also encouraged everyone to press forward in pursuing their dreams with the wisdom and responsibility of business professionals in the coming year.

Zhang He performed the song “Adoration” with deep emotion, using its gentle melody to convey memories and longing, as well as growth and letting go, touching the audience with its delicate and heartfelt expression.

The skit “Who Drove Sunday Crazy?”, performed by Cheng Xianzhen, Gao Xinmei, and other students, humorously tackled the common struggle of procrastination. Through witty storytelling and relatable scenes from everyday life, the performance resonated strongly with the audience and sparked laughter across the hall.

The classical dance “To the Moon” presented the elegance of traditional Chinese culture through graceful movements. Dressed in Han-style costumes and holding silk fans, Liu Furong, Tang Leqi, and other performers confided their deepest thoughts and feelings to the bright moon, beautifully showcasing the charm of traditional culture.

The stage of CUFE Business School has always been a place of heritage and passion. Alumni from the 18th to the 22nd MBA Union presented a song medley titled Five Years of Shared Dreams, Singing Together for the New Year. Their reunion across time filled the performance with deep friendship and affection for the School, creating one of the most touching moments of youthful nostalgia.

With the song “Encounter”, Jin Kaiyu, Shu Qiulan, and Ma Yunwen and other performers revisited beautiful memories, reminding everyone that encounter itself is a precious kind of fortune.

With flowing water sleeves, Zhao Rui, Yang Shuhan, and other performers brought to life the dance “Cai Wei (Picking Osmund)”. Inspired by The Book of Songs, the performance depicted the poetic imagery of swaying willows and falling snow, transporting the audience across millennia through graceful choreography and evoking the enduring charm of classical aesthetics.

The crosstalk performance “The Impatient One and the Patient One”, performed by Deng Zhaoxuan and Zhang Ruolan, created many humorous moments through the striking contrast between the two characters’ personalities, allowing the audience to enjoy the amusing collisions of everyday life.

MBA alumni of the Class of 2023, including Zuo Mengyuan and Zhang Chuanyue, returned to the stage with the energetic song-and-dance performance “Dancing with Shooting Stars”. Their passionate rhythm ignited the atmosphere, expressing their enduring attachment to their alma mater and their youthful spirit.

The appearance of the faculty members pushed the gala to a climax. Known for their professionalism in the classroom, they transformed into lively performers on stage. Students Lin Xinran, Wang Ziyi, and Xie Zihan performed “Clouds and Moon Welcoming Spring” with instruments such as the guzheng, piano, and violin, weaving “the gentle unfolding of clouds, the radiant glow of the moon, and the vibrant vitality of spring” into the melodies flowing from their fingertips.

The dynamic dance performance “abradacabra” ignited the entire venue with its energetic rhythm, showcasing the bold and vibrant youthful spirit of students from the CUFE Business School.

As the third prize, second prize, first prize, and grand prize were revealed one by one, the rolling numbers on the big screen tugged at the heartstrings of everyone in the audience. The cheers of the winning students intertwined with applause throughout the venue, repeatedly pushing the joyful atmosphere to new heights.

“Shining Stars of CUFE Business School, tonight we gather under the starlight; together we greet the spring dawn, and in this moment, we make our heartfelt wishes.” From the surprise debut of our leaders and faculty to the vibrant performances of our students, from tender, heartfelt songs to high-energy dances, from reunions that span mountains and seas to sincere blessings, this gala was not only a fulfilling summary of the past year but also a fresh beginning for the journey ahead.
Although the time together was brief, the bonds and passion shared are lasting. At the finale, teachers, students, alumni, and all performers took the stage for a group photo. The delightful appearance of the CUFE Business School mascot “Shang Xiaoyang” added a perfect finishing touch to this grand celebration.
In the new year, may everyone at the School carry the starlight and enthusiasm from tonight, with courage as wings and wisdom as sails, navigating the path of business dreams, joining forces to set sail anew, and together writing an even more brilliant chapter for CUFE Business School!
