January 7, 2026, the 19th MBA Case Teaching Seminar of the Central University of Finance and Economics was successfully held under the theme “Integrating Technology and Business: Upholding Principles and Fostering Innovation in Case Teaching.” The seminar was jointly organized by CUFE Business School / MBA Education Center, the Graduate Student Affairs Department, and the Graduate School. Vice President Li Tao, Dean of the Graduate School Wang Hui, Director of Business School Committee Xu Xianmei, and Dean of CUFE Business School and Director of the MBA Education Center Lin Song, together with more than 60 MBA faculty members, gathered to discuss the development of case-based teaching. The seminar was chaired by Liu Xiaoyuan, Deputy Director of the MBA Education Center and Associate Dean of CUFE Business School.

Vice President Li Tao fully affirmed in the opening remarks the core role of case teaching in highlighting the University’s strengths in finance and economics and enhancing the brand influence of its professional degree programs. He pointed out that in response to the trend of deep integration between technology and business, the University has incorporated case development and teaching reform into the core strategy of MBA education, continuously empowering the cultivation of high-quality business talents through dedicated resource support. Looking ahead to 2026, he proposed three key expectations: developing flagship cases centered on the integration of technology and business, strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration and university–industry partnerships, and encouraging students to enhance their ability to solve real-world problems through case-based practice.

Dean Wang Hui emphasized that cases, as “living teaching materials,” are an important driver for advancing the differentiated development of professional and academic degree education, and also a key pathway for serving national strategies and the “Double First-Class” Initiative. The University has already established a comprehensive training system covering 21 categories of professional master’s programs and a doctoral program in accounting, providing solid support for case teaching. She also expressed hope that the seminar would further reinforce the central role of case teaching in professional degree education.

Dean Lin Song reviewed the major achievements of the MBA program at CUFE Business School in 2025. The program ranked among the top in Beijing in terms of part-time MBA admissions and successfully launched the “Longma Finance Leadership Program” and a new specialization in “Digital Intelligence Cultural Management,” reflecting the School’s interdisciplinary approach to education. He noted that cases have become the mainstream paradigm for both classroom teaching and thesis research, and that developing cutting-edge and dynamic cases is essential for enhancing the competitiveness of the MBA program.

Witnessed by the participants, Li Tao, Wang Hui, Xu Xianmei, and Lin Song jointly launched the 11th Professional Degree Graduate Case Competition of the Central University of Finance and Economics.

She emphasized the importance of collecting first-hand materials and focusing on core knowledge points, and shared a standardized workflow of “interview – discussion – topic selection – writing.” Professor Gu Leilei from CUFE Business School analyzed the characteristics of contemporary and theoretical case studies by drawing on projects from the Ministry of Education’s Thematic Case Initiative, and discussed how to tell authentic Chinese stories through focused case selection. Participating faculty members engaged in discussions with the speakers on topics such as balancing theoretical advancement with case vitality, the influence of secondary data sources, and the application cycle of case research outcomes.

Director of Business School Committee Xu Xianmei pointed out in the concluding remarks that case teaching serves as a key vehicle for integrating ideological and political education with professional training. She emphasized the need to build a distinctive CUFE case system aligned with national strategic priorities, in order to cultivate business talents who possess both a strong sense of social responsibility and innovative capabilities.

The seminar systematically summarized the achievements and innovations of case teaching, consolidated consensus around “integrating technology and business while upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground,” and officially launched the call for papers for the 20th MBA Case Teaching Seminar, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of MBA education in the future.
