Speaker: Li Jizhen is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University. He has long been engaged in research on innovation management, entrepreneurship management and science and technology policy, with a research focus on open innovation, corporate strategy and industrial generic technologies. His research findings have been published in world-leading international journals such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Strategic Management Journal and Management Science, as well as authoritative Chinese publications including Management World. He has presided over a number of national-level research projects and boasts significant academic influence in the fields of science and technology resource allocation as well as industry-university-research cooperation.

Abstract:

The commercialization of university scientific and technological achievements facilitates the flow of knowledge from academic spheres to industrial sectors, while also triggering in-depth reflections on the shifts in universities' academic missions and knowledge production modes. Centered on the core issue of the relationship between scholars' participation in the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements and their academic research, this report sorts out theoretical frameworks and key research questions. Drawing on multi-dimensional data from Tsinghua University's technology transfer projects and in-depth interviews with scholars, it identifies the core characteristics of the university's technology transfer practices and their profound impacts on scholars' academic work, and prospects future research directions accordingly.
